Obituary

On Saturday, June 26, 2010, God in his omnipotent wisdom and power, called Mrs. Alice Marie Waldo from her labor to rest at Leigh Sentara Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Alice was born on July 3, 1939 in Cape Charles, Virginia to the late Charlie & Mildred Harris.

Alice, affectionately known as "Ms. Alice", was educated in the public schools of Northampton County. She accepted Christ as her personal saviour at an early age. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen AME Church in Cape Charles, Virginia. She worked for several years at the Holiday Inn, and the Sunset Beach Hotel as a cook. She also was employed with the well known restaurant "Rebecca's" as Head-Cook. At the time of her retirement she worked for Kiptopeke Elementary School.

Alice lived the life she sung about, always putting God first, her family and then her job. Serving as a forerunner on the battlefield for the LORD, she never looked back at the world that was behind her. She had a passion and a calling on her life, as Minister of Music; she sung and played the piano. Ms. Alice loved serving in the church for the LORD and served in many capacities such as Trustee, Stewart, Finance Committee, Missionary, Delegate for the Annual AME Conference, and was elected to serve on the Choir Committee for the Annual AME Conference.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband RC Waldo, four sons: Anthony (Cindy) Waldo, and Marvin (Harriette) Waldo of Cape Charles, Bobby (Helen) Waldo and Terrell (June) Waldo of Norfolk, VA, and one daughter; Gwen (Eric) Smith of Hampton, VA, one brother Wesley Stevens of Cape Charles; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a special adopted son Eddie Bell of Cheriton, Virginia and four sisters-in-law, Sarah, Frances, Mattie, and Onita, four brothers-in-law; Alfred, Leroy, Johnny B and Artis, all of Central Florida, a special friend Rosetta Treherne, several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
