Annie Lee Brown went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Heritage Hall Nursing Facility in Nassawadox, VA. Annie was born October 13, 1918 to the late Nicholas and Mary F. Brown in Dalby, Va.
She attended Northampton Public Schools. At an early age, she confessed her life to Christ and became a member of Coles Chapel AME Church in Bayview, Va. When the church united with St. Stephens AME in the town of Cape Charles, she continued to work and fellowship within the church. Annie loved and cherished her only son Freddie Lee Brown and treasured the visits with him and his family. Annie adored her grandchildren. She found great joy in Baby Anisah and the talks with her oldest granddaughter Annette. Annie worked for many years at G.L. Webster Canning Company in Cheriton, VA and later retired from the Kane & Miller Canning Company. After retirement, she worked in the produce industry. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and talking on the telephone with family and friends. She cherished her daily conversations with sister Thelma and long time friend Gertrude Morris. Annie always knew the happenings of the young folks, as well as the old. In her later years, she became affectionately called "Miss Annie" by some of her loved ones.
Annie cherished her independence and continued to live at home until December 31, 2017. She often talked about returning home after entering the Nursing Facility. Annie would tell family that she wanted a ride down the road. Today, we find solace in knowing that she is truly home.
