Obituary

Beatrice Battle ,  the daughter of the Late Henrietta Sessoms and Willie Battle was born on April 8, 1932 in Ahoskie, North Carolina.  It was God's desire to call His loved one to rest on October 2, 2019 from Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Ms. Bea, as most people best knew her, moved to Virginia at a young age where she completed her education.  She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the First Baptist Church Cape Charles, VA.  She enjoyed fellowshipping with her church family and friends.  She loved to cook during holidays and especially during Christmas, her favorite holiday, where she invited all her family and friends to her home.

Ms. Bea was a lifelong resident of Cape Charles where she raised her 10 children with God's blessings.  She later moved to Eastville and enjoyed two years there.  She was a loving mother, friend, and confidant.  She always had an infectious smile when you saw her.  She loved being a mom and often told her children how much she loves them.  She will be missed so much.

Ms. Bea was predeceased by one daughter, Carrie Banks, one grandson, George A. Ruffins, Jr., three great-grandchildren, Chalisa Stratton, Tayonna Brown and Jameer Smith; a very special friend, John Beckett, Jr., her sisters and brothers, Hattie Ayers, Eugenia Picott, Mary Picott, Horace Sessoms, James Sessoms, Ned Sessoms, Jessie Battle and Renia Bell Nottingham.

Ms. Bea leaves loving memories of her life with her nine children: Alexander Battle, Fairview, VA, Rosetta (Joseph) Treherne, Cape Charles, VA, Ella (James) Stratton, Norfolk, VA, Oliver (Louise) Battle, Melfa, VA, Dora (Vincent) West, Onancock, VA, Paulette Epps, Eastville, VA, Carleen Battle, Cheriton, VA, Aurelia Purnell, Cape Charles, VA and Audrey Battle (Christopher), Virginia Beach, VA.  Twenty-five grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, and nephews.  She was loved by many and called Mama Bea or Ant Bea.  She also leaves cherished memories with her longtime friends, the Cape Charles community and her First Baptist Church Family.

Mom was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

A visitation was held Friday, October 11, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Cape Charles, Virginia from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services was Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2:00p.m. at First Baptist Church, Cape Charles, Virginia with the Rev. Felton Sessoms, Officiating.

The interment was be in the Ebernezer A.M.E. Church, Capeville, Virginia.
