Mrs. Clair Mae Burton Collins, departed her earthly home on, January 13, 2024. She was born to the Late Joseph Washington Roosevelt and the Late Edith Mae Burton on March 3, 1953 in Northampton County, Virginia.
Clair affectionately known as "Easter" grew up in lower Northampton County and attended the public schools. She met her husband, Lawrence "Bute" over fifty years ago. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked at Perdue Farms and the C & D Clam House in Oyster, VA until she became disabled. She was a faithful member of Saint Stephens A.M.E. Church, Cape Charles, VA
Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Collins, Sr, her mother, Edith Waters, father, Joseph W. Roosevelt, stepfather, Samuel Waters, father and mother-in-law, Willie Collins and Pearline Savage; two sisters, Gloria Burton, Shirley Burton, one brother, Joseph Burton, daughter-in-law, Denean D. Collins, two grandsons, Kameron D. Gaskins, Khamari R. Gaskins, two brothers-in-law, Burley Johnson and Donnie Brisco.
She leaves to cherish loving memories two children: Pearline (Plea Anthony Ruffin), Virginia Beach, VA and Lawrence Collins, Jr., Seaview, VA, step mother-in-law, Reverend Olivia Collins, three sisters; Pauline Burton, Cheriton, VA, Audrey Brisco, Bayview, VA and Evelina King, Norfolk, VA; three brothers: Melvin (Alison) Eastville, VA, John Burton, Cheriton, VA and Jeffery Burton, Cheriton, VA; one sister-in-law Linda Burton, Cheriton, Va, future daughter-in-law, Jonda White, Mappsville, VA; three brothers-in-law, Melvin (Cindy) DE, Gary Collins, DE, and Darren Collins (Celana), Kansas; four sisters-in-law, Regina Davis, DE, Carlease Collins, DE, Yvonne Chamblee (Curtis), DE and Willnett West (Lubin), Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Dwayne (Erica), Dakeitta (Avery), Courtney Sample, Leshawn Ruffin, Plea Anthony Ruffin, Jr; seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
