Obituary

Our beloved one, Clora Annie Ellison Andrews, was born to the late Mahalia and Elbert Ellison on March 28, 1926 in New Bern, North Carolina. She married the late Clifford Andrews on November 15, 1942. Two children were born to this union.

Clora joined the African Baptist Church at a very young age and maintained her commitments. She was a forerunner in establishing a Youth Usher Board; therefore receiving two awards. One, a Citizen Award for faithful, dedicated service and the other Certificate for using her disability as a stepping-stone to the Glory of God. She did not let her illness rule her; she ruled it.

Clora loved to comfort others with a listening ear and she was the backbone for anyone. She will be truly missed. Her dedication to our Lord, Jesus Christ was profound – like a rock.

Clora attended Cheriton Elementary School. She was employed at Webster Canning Factory, secretary for Cook's Taxi Service and worked for a contractor.

A pillow of the neighborhood, she is survived by her daughter, Hattie Andrews, Cheriton, VA, a son, Clifford Andrews, Jr., California; three grandchildren, Sean Andrews, Fairview, VA, Clifford Owens Andrews and Stacie Andrews of California; a sister, Doretha Evans, Exmore, VA; a number of adopted children: Ella Mae Marrow of Cheriton, Susan Hall and Carrie Wynder of New Jersey, Dineta Morris Ford, Raleigh, NC, Albert Smith, Norfolk, VA and Lena Gale, Fairview, VA; one sister-in-law, Ivoa Queen, Baltimore, MD, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her Cheriton Crossroad community and her African Baptist Church family.
