Doris Jean Walton departed this life on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at her residence in Fairview, Virginia.

Minister Doris Walton was the daughter of the late Robert and Dora Broadie of Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Walton, Jr., a son, Isaac Walton and one brother, June Broadie.

Minister Doris Walton was educated in North Carolina where she attended Wayne County Public School. She was employed by Northampton County Public Schools as a bus driver since 1979. Minster Walton joined her Christian fellowship at a very young age at Mount Sinai gospel Tabernacle Church in Fairview, Virginia under the leadership of the late Bishop Estella D. Smith.

Our love one leaves cherished memories with one son, William (Cheryl) Walton; three daughters: Linda (Lilton) Powell, Ellen (Kendall) Gray and Selene Walton; ten grandchildren: Darrell Powell, Tomeka Snead, LeVar Myrick, JaMar Walton, Brianna Hall, Ayatta Hall, Carlos Walton, Derrick Walton, Daunte Graves and Chaunte Graves; one great grandchild, Nyzever Snead; four brothers, Charles (Eva), Marvin (Lois), Frank and Fred (Dianne) Broadie; six sisters: Marie (John) Greene, Vernestine Moses, Dollie McClarin, Elizabeth (Gene) McClarin, Crystal (Archie) Faison and Bertha McClarin; two sisters-in-laws: Geneva Emerson and Odears Walton; one brother-in-law, Johnny Walton; her Godmother and Pastor, Bishop Helen O. Gillis; five God sisters and three God brothers; three Godchildren with the youngest being Wycena S. Lockwood of Bayview, VA; a very special and dear friend, Gretchen Smaw of Eastville, VA; a very special cousin and friend, Mary Anne Wilson of Cape Charles, VA, a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
