Edward Paige Wynder, Jr. was born to the late Edward Paige Wynder, Sr. and Sallie Mason Wynder on November 2, 1927. He attended the public schools of Northampton County, Virginia until being called early to assist with family obligations. On October 15, 1947, he joined hands in holy matrimony with Corine Andrews Wynder, his heart and soul for 60 years. In the early 1950's, Edward joined African Baptist Church of Cheriton, Virginia. He was a devout member of African Baptist where he was awarded Father of the Year in 2003.
With only a 6th grade education, Edward ventured into entrepreneurship as a taxi-cab driver at the young age of 15. In addition to successfully managing the taxi-cab business, he farmed for 30 years and drove the school bus for the Northampton County Public School System for 42 years. In 64 years of driving, the Lord never allowed Edward to cause an automobile accident or get a speeding ticket.
As a child living during the Great Depression, Edward inherited strong financial values. Like the food on his plate, money was never wasted. Nothing made Edward happier than being surrounded by his children. There was never a dull moment while in his presence. He will be forever remembered for the joy and laughter he brought to his family.
Edward departed his life on Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Nassawadox, Virginia. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Corine Wynder; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Joyce Ann McDonald (Evans), Patricia Giddens (Charles), Cynthia White (Sylvester), Gloria Blake (Morgan), Sherrel Addison (Terrance), Mary Ann Brittingham; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Thomas Wynder, James Wynder (Judy), Jerry Wynder (Beverly), Larry Wynder (Deborah), and Freddie Brown (Cleo). He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Edward was predeceased by his brother Leonard Wynder and four grandsons, Anthony McDonald, Antwine McDonald, Charles Giddens, Jr., and Sylvester White, Jr.
