Elaine Kindred LeGrand was born June 26, 1920 in Skinnerville, North Carolina to the late Richard and Carrie Stephen Kindred. She departed this life on May 8, 2012 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Virginia.
Elaine moved to Cheriton, Virginia after retiring from work in New York City. She lived a long and adventurous life. She had a joy for learning new things such as how to use computers and to swim. At the age of 80, Mrs. LeGrand traveled the world making a visit to Isreal. Her greatest joy in life was helping others. She donated many of her years to World Vision and served as a foster mother to children in need.
Elaine is preceded in death by her cherished husband William R. LeGrand and her beloved son Samuel Kindred. She is also predeceased by her twelve siblings.
Left behind with cherished precious memories are: daughter-in-law Clara M. Kindred, three loving granddaughters Cassandra Kindred, Sonia Kindred, and Debora Akbar, beloved foster sons Michael and Danny Robinson, eight great grandchildren Samuel, Tanya, Talib Bilal, Damion, Sharif, Samirah, Terrell, and Walter Lee, great-great grandson Omari White, and a beloved host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, and the Cheriton Crossroads Community.
