On June 10, 2018 the Lord commissioned the home going of Elizabeth Collins Riley in Cape Charles, Virginia. Elizabeth was the second daughter and the fifth child born to the union of the late John and Maude Coles Collins on March 12, 1937 in Northampton County, Virginia.
Elizabeth attended the public schools of Northampton County. Upon graduation, she obtained a job at Will's Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. After working for a few years, she returned to home and worked at Kane and Miller Factor for over twenty-four years. She later worked for twenty years at Eastern Shore Area Agency on Aging as a Family Services Worker where she transported senior citizens all over the counties. She truly enjoyed that job.
Elizabeth grew up in a Christian family and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized and united with Coles Chapel A.M.E. Church in Bayview, VA. During the course of her spiritual journey, she united with Saint Stephens A.M.E. Church where she served and remained faithful until her death.
In November of 1961, she married Burley C. Riley. To this union two daughters were born, Charlene and Claudine.
Elizabeth's retirement years were spent serving in her church, playing dominoes, and visiting family and friends. She leaves cherished memories to celebrate her gift of life; her two daughters, Charlene D. Riley, Cape Charles, Claudine R. Smith (Reverend Jeffery Smith), Cheriton, VA; two grandsons, Justin R. Smith and Jeffery L. Smith, Cheriton, VA; two sisters, Martha Powell, Cheriton, VA and Christine Upshur, Treherneville, VA; two brothers, John Collins (Debra), White Plains, NY and Bobby Collins, Bayview, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her Saint Stephens Church family. She is welcomed in heaven by her family that predeceased her in death, her husband, Burleigh Riley, parents John and Maude Collins, brothers, Sterling, James and Willie Collins, and one sister, Ethel Lee Nottingham.
She will forever live in the hearts and minds of all the people she touched during her life.
