The Lord, in all splendor and might, blessed the late Harry and Mable Tazewell of Cheriton, Virginia on the day of December 16, 1935. ELLEN HANNAH TAZEWELL was born. Ellen passed peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox, Virginia.

Ellen was the oldest of eight children. She received her education in the public schools in Northampton County. She worked in factories and on farms. She worked very hard to provide for her two sons, Roosevelt "Coodie" and Larry.

Ellen was a very caring and outspoken person. She loved to cook.
She enjoyed people, loved the family gatherings and she kept you laughing.


Ellen leaves to cherish her memories two sons: SFC (Ret) Roosevelt (Sharon) Tazewell, Ludowici, Georgia, Mr. Larry (Teresa) Tazewell, Cheriton, Virginia; four grandsons: Mr. LaBron Tazewell, Ozark, AL., Mr. LeVar Tazewell, Richmond, VA., Mr. Larry Nottingham, Sr., Eastville, VA., and Roosevelt (Nichole) Tazewell, Jr., Hinesville, GA.; three step-granddaugthers: Mrs. Leita (Ju) Watson-Whitehead, Chesapeake, Virginia, Ms. Atara Jackson, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mrs. Jhiquita (Eric) White, Schenectady, NY; one step-grandson: Mr. Ricardo Watson, Albany, NY; six great grandsons: Rázhan Tazewell, Dázhan Tazewell, LeBran Tazewell, Larry Nottingham, Jr., Julian Tazewell, Kamdem Nottingham; four great granddaughters: Ky´Asia Nottingham, Jaeda Nottingham, Diamond Tazewell, Gloria Nottingham; three sisters: Ms. Nora Francis Tazewell, Salisbury MD, Mrs. Sara Lee Smith, Cape Charles, VA., Mrs. Annie Mae (Melvin) Brittingham, Princess Ann, MD.; three brothers: Mr. Frank Tazewell, Burkeville, VA., Mr. Harry Tazewell, New Jersey and Mr. Alfred Tazewell, Cheriton, VA. along with many nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 O'clock pm , Saturday, January 28, 2017 from the African Baptist Church in Cheriton, Virginia with Reverend James Tazewell giving the eulogy.

There will be a viewing at the church from 1:00 pm until service time.

The interment will be in the church cemetery.

The arrangements have been trusted to Gray's Funeral Home in Cape Charles.
