M rs. Emma Marie Savage Giffin was born on May 14,1917, to the late George and Bessie Whitted Savage in Northampton County, the oldest of five siblings. Marie went home to be with the Lord at Riverside Memorial Hospital on November 29,2012.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a long-time member of Union Baptist Church. Marie loved the church family and served as a missonary, deaconess, and member of Choir #2. She attended faithfully until her health began to fail.
Marie felt education was hr lifework, and she enjoyed her students as much as they respected and loved her. Marie loved to travel and experience all the world had to offer and she took up poetry late in life, becoming a distinguished and award-winning member of the International Society of poetsand was inducted in the Poetry Hall of Fame.
