Obituary

In the early evening of June 12, 2009 the Lord's Angels came and took our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ernestine Marie Stratton to her Heavenly Home.

Ernestine, the oldest of ten siblings, was born January 5, 1948 to the late Phillip and Myrtee Harrison. She was born, reared and educated in Brooklyn, New York. She was predeceased in death by two brothers, Kenny and Carl.

"Tina", as she was affectionately called, married Thomas L. Stratton on November 23, 1968. Unto this holy union one child, Tawanna, was born.

Ernestine moved to Cape Charles, Virginia where she became employed with several establishments - Paul's Restaurant, McCrory's, Dollar General and her latest employer the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Tina enjoyed her work. In each of her employment affiliations, she left her mark of concern, dedication and eagerness.

Tina was united in fellowship with her Savior Jesus Christ and joined First Baptist Church Cape Charles under the pastorage of Reverend R. W. Wilson. She was a member of the Senior Choir.

She loved everyone and was loved by all who met her. She was truly a people's person. Tina was blessed with an infectious smile. Her smile was a special gift from God and she was referred to as "An Angel Amongst Us." She will be greatly missed.

Tina leaves to cherish precious memories her devoted husband of 40 years, Thomas, a loving daughter, Tawanna, two special grand children, Toyika and William; three brothers: Robert (Angela), Gary and Tony; four sisters, Virginia (Jesse), Mary (Ernesto), Patricia (Emilio) and Elaine; father and mother-in-law, James and Joanner Stratton; three brothers-in-law, James, Irving (Shirlean) and Wayne; three sisters-in-law, Martha Ann (Maurice), Margaret (David) and Yetta (DeWayne), a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
