Eunice M. Monroe was born April 17, 1926 to the late Elemit Morris and Louise Pitts of Cape Charles, Virginia. She attended the public schools of Cape Charles and continued her education at Morgan State College and Hampton University, pursuing a career in nursing.
Eunice met, fell in love, and married Carrington Monroe, who was "the love of her life", to this union, "the apple of their eye", their son, Carrington (Skipper) Monroe Jr., was born. Years later the family relocated to New York City and it was after her husband, Carrington's retirement from the United States Post Office, that they returned to historical Cape Charles, Virginia to live.
Eunice joined the First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worshipping and serving as a member of the Culinary Committee. She was also a member of the Willie T. Brickhouse American Legion Auxiliary Unit 400, AARP, Concerned Citizen's of Cape Charles, and a volunteer at the Museum of Cape Charles.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Carrington Monroe, her son, Carrington (Skipper) Monroe, Jr., two brothers, Roosevelt and Raymond Morris. Today she leaves to honor her memory two sisters and one brother, Pauline L. Taylor of Dover, Delaware and her children, Lemuel Taylor of Hockessin, DE, Shuron Pratt of Apple Valley, CA, Leilani Martinez of Dover, DE , and Minlee Taylor of Santa Monica, CA; Stanley L. Morris of Bronx, NY, and his children Stanley Morris, Jr. of Dover, DE. Lakeishas Morris of Atlanta, GA, Elemit Morris of Durhan, NC, Jumaane M. Morris, Akilah L. Morris and Randy Morris of Bronx, NY; The Reverend Dr. Gloria M. Snipes (Rev. Johnny, III) of Dover, DE and their daughter, The Rev. Mignonné E. M. Snipes of Salisbury, NC; one grandson, Andre Davis of New York, NY; a loving niece, Castina L. Bailey of Trenton, NJ; nephews, Jerry Morris of Norfolk, VA and James R. Braun of Lewistown, MT; two beloved nieces, Patricia Dodson and Angela Williams (Joseph) of Albuquerque, NM; two devoted cousins, Larry Hodge and John Earl of New York, NY; a special and devoted cousin, Valentine Evans of Cape Charles, VA; one brother-in-law, James "Buddy" Monroe of Monroe Township, New Jersey; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Ames of Arlington, VA and other cousins, relatives, and friends.
