Floyd Johnson went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest son of eleven children born to the late Reverend Emmanuel and Rosa Steele Johnson of Centry, Florida.
Floyd received his early educational training in Cape Charles Elementary School. Although Floyd was born in Florida, he considered the Eastern Shore specifically Cheriton his home. He was a member of Gospel Temple Holiness Church.
Later in life Floyd met Geraldine Duckett. They fell in love and married on June 8, 1963. From this union five children were born: Lynne Denise, April Karlo, Erica Florisa, Eric Floyd and Ron Byron.
Floyd was a bricklayer and laborer by trade. He worked for many years with Eastern Granite. Floyd was a leader in trade. He enjoyed his work, giving advice and was well respected by his co workers.
Floyd loved his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a kind, friendly and jovial person. He enjoyed his Cheriton neighbors and will be missed tremendously.
Floyd leaves to remember and morn: his devoted wife of 46 years, Geraldine; five lovely children, Lynn Denise, April Karlo, Erica Florisa, Eric Floyd and Ron Byron; sixteen grandchildren, one great grandchild. He will be lovingly remembered by one brother, Abraham Johnson, Salisbury, MD; four sisters: Mary Lee Smith, Philadelphia, PA, Evangelist Ann B. Johnson, Salisbury, MD, Evangelist Lillie Rea, Oakland, CA and Elder Marion J. Cottrell, Cheriton, VA; one sister in law, Joan Payne, Philadelphia, PA, one brother-in-law, Deacon Arthur Cottrell, Cheriton, VA ; a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends.
