Irene "Rena" Robinson Wilson was born on December 7, 1907 in Northampton County, Virginia. She was the seventh child born to Reverend Louis Robinson and Lillian Comfort Dixon Robinson. Irene grew up and attended school in Northampton County.
Irene joined First Baptist Church Capeville many years ago and remained a devoted member to her beloved church until her demise.
Rena had many jobs during her young years, including housekeeping for the Kiptopeke Ferry Cooperation, line worker at Webster's Canning Factory, and domestic work for the Bergen Pines Hospital in New Jersey.
Although Rena's disposition was well suited for work outside the home, she also excelled in some domestic skills. Rena was a talented cook. She knew how to put a meal together and was willing to share what she had with her family, her friends, and anyone in need. Rena provided a home for her elderly blind mother for over twenty years. At the same time, she helped with raising her grandchildren. She was an involved grandmother. All the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren call her "Mother".
In recent years Irene "Mother" resided at Heritage Acres in Cape Charles until she moved to the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Nassawadox. She spent her final days being cared for by a friendly and caring staff.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ella V. Bailey of Fairview, VA, one niece, Ms Thelma Lee Ruffin of Fairview; one nephew, George Alfred Robinson of Norfolk, VA; six grandsons, Charles Edward Bailey of Fairview, VA, Larry Bailey of Binghamton, NY, Elder Norman Kenneth Bailey of Fairview, VA, Michael Wayne Bailey of Arizona, Ronald Eric Bailey Fredericksburg of VA, Stephen Bailey of Philadelphia, PA; three granddaughters, Dianne Alexander of Sodus, NY, Sharon Bailey of Philadelphia, PA, Lisa McCrimmon of Woodbridge, VA; 28 great grandchildren, 33 great-great grandchildren, 3 great-great-great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of relative and friends.
Irene departed this life on Sunday, April 29, 2007.
