On Thursday, March 16, 2017 James "Pop" Adson transitioned into his final rest. He was born December 20. 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James and Jeanette Calvin. Pop grew up with his grandparents, Richard and Betty Calvin in Dunn, NC. He was married to the late Annette Marrow Adson.
Pop started out in Mortuary Science and worked in that field for many years as a Forensic Pathologist Technician in Philadelphia, New York and North Carolina. He also worked as a social worker and counselor in Pennsylvania. Afterward, he worked as a hall monitor, but still desired to go into business for himself. Pop opened a record and picture shop in Cape Charles, VA where he took black and white photos and added color to them. He later partnered with Dutell Joynes to work in the Restaurant and Fish Market industry. Fishing and Gardening were Pop's favorite interest, which he did until he turned 87.
James Adson was known by several different names Angelo Gonzales (don't ask), Anthony, Tony, Tony Zero, Po Tony, Axe head, Pappa Smurf, Crabman, Fishman, and Pop. Just as he had many names Pop had nick names for everyone else.
Pop enjoyed life and he enjoyed having fun. There was nothing that appeared to get Pop down because he choose to ignore that part of life, when things were hard or burdensome. This was how Pop lived and transitioned from this life, not worrying about the burdens of this world.
