Larry Wadell Figgs was born February 3, 1952 to the late Chester Anna and Thurman Figgs. Larry answered the Master's call to eternal rest on October 31, 2017 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Larry was educated in Northampton County and graduated from Northampton County High School. Realizing the limited amount of work on the Eastern Shore, Larry later decided to join the United States Army where he served for ten years.
"SOUL", as he was affectionately called by family and friends would respond "That be me". He was very outspoken. Later in life he met and married his soulmate, Carolyn Giddens. He loved his family and would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Larry took pride in keeping his lawn looking good. He enjoyed watching television, especially the horror movies.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted wife, Carolyn, one sister Cleo Headen (Ernest), Philadelphia, PA; two brothers, Charles Figgs (Judy), Cheriton, VA, Chester Figgs, New Jersey; five step-children, Tremayne, Latisha, Antonia, Veronica and Alvin; one sister-in-law, Delisa Dixon, Exmore, VA; four brothers-in-law, Curtis Giddens, Belle Haven, VA, Sylvester Giddens, Savannah, GA, Andrew Giddens, Norfolk, VA and Kenneth Giddens, Accomac, VA; a devoted cousin Isaac Smaw, two devoted friends Doris Morris and Freddie Baker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Larry was predeceased by three siblings, Thurman, Jr, Rebecca (Becky) and Raymond.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday with military honors from First Baptist Church Capeville . The interment will be in the African Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11am until funeral service time.
