Mr. Lawrence  Collins, Sr, son of the late William Collins and Pearline entered eternal rest on Tuesday , January 18, 2022 at  Waterside Drive Nursing Facility in Norfolk, Virginia.

"Bute", as he was affectionately known, was reared in Northampton County, VA.  He attended the public schools of the County.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Bute was a faithful member of Saint Stephens A.M.E. Church in Cape Charles, VA.  He was the owner and founder of Collins Masonry.  He was a good provider for his family and generously shared his resources with his friends.  He had a heart of gold and had the ability to make anyone laugh and smile.  He would go above and beyond what was required to help anyone.

Bute was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Williams Collins and Pearline Savage; grandparents, John and Maude Collins, William and Cozzie Andrews, and Lincoln and Maryfield Brown; daughter-in-law, Denean Collins, grandson, Camron Gaskins; aunts; Rosie Mae Collins, Ethel Lee Nottingham and Elizabeth Riley; uncles; James Collins, Sterling Collins and Bobbie Collins: sisters-in-law, Shirley Burton and Gloria Burton, and brothers-in-law, Joseph Burton and Donnie Brisco.

He leaves to cherish loving memories to his wife of 51 years, Clair Mae Collins; two children, daughter Pearline (Plea Anthony) Ruffin of VA Beach, VA and son, Lawrence Collins, Jr. of Seaview, VA; three brothers, Melvin (Cindy) Collins, Gary Collins of DE and Darren Collins of KS; four sisters, Regina Davis, Carlease Collins and Yvonne (Curtis) Chamblee all of DE and Willnett Lubin of Chesapeake, VA; two aunts, Martha Powell of Cheriton, VA and Brenda Upshur of Treherneville, VA; one uncle, John Eli Collins of NY; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Burton of Seaview, VA, Audrey Brisco of Bayview, VA and Evelina King of Norfolk, VA; three brothers-in-law, John Burton and Jeffery Burton of Cheriton, VA and Melvin (Allison) Burton of Eastville, VA; five grand children; four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
