Mrs. Lillian Virginia Hack James was born on February 18, 1953 to the late Sylvania and Adelle Hack of Accomack County, Virginia. She passed away January 17, 2019.
Lillian came to know Christ at an early age. She accepted Christ at the age of 8, under the leadership of the late Bishop Jesse P. Handshaw, Sr.
She attended Accomack County Public Schools and graduated from Central High School on June 8, 1973. On June 9, 1973 she was joined in holy matrimony to Walter Lee James, Sr. at Gospel Tabernacle Holiness Church in Cape Charles, Virginia where they both maintained their membership. She served as a faithful member and supporter of the ministry. Her favorite songs were "You Can't Make Me Doubt Him" and " I will Trust in The Lord Till I Die".
From the holy union of Lillian and Walter, were born three children; Walter, Samuel and Rebekah James. Lillian retired from Perdue after twenty-five years of service. During her time at the company she was recognized for her excellent service and work ethic. After retirement, she continue her ministry of witnessing throughout the community; primarily using her three-wheel bicycle. She became well known for riding her bike throughout the Cape Charles community. In addition, she was the number one fan of her children and grandchildren at their sporting events.
She is survived by her husband Walter Lee James, Sr., her two sons Walter Lee James, Jr. and Samuel Cornelius James, her daughter, Rebekah James, daughter-in-law, Mayor Takisha D. James, seven grandchildren, Keyvina, Kevin, Kevon, Keyina, Imani, Shykeria and Zykerria, one brother, Sylvania Hack, Jr., two sisters-in-law, Mae Redmond and Veronica Drummond, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her two sisters Maggie Giddens and Rose Anna Hack.
Funeral services for Mrs. James was conducted at 12:00 pm Saturday , January 26th at First Baptist Church in Cape Charles, Virginia with Overseer Stephany Hanshaw delivering the eulogy.
The interment will be in the Cape Charles Community Cemetery.
