Lisa Laverne Smaw Corbett, was born in Cape Charles, VA on January 20, 1963 to the Late Arthur Lee Smaw, Jr and Quintelia Smaw. She the second youngest of five siblings, Joyce Ann Smaw Francis, Arthur L Smaw, III, Marcus D. Smaw and Paula Smaw.  At an early age Lisa and her family relocated to Norfolk, VA where she attended the public schools of Norfolk.  She loved sports and played in the softball league in the position of shortstop.

Lisa graduated from Norview High School in 1981 and attended Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA for 3 1/2 years and majored in English Education.  She worked briefly with the postal services and later became a caregiver and homemaker.

Lisa opened her home for a lady's afternoon tea where she would serve home cooked meals to family, friends, and the neighbors.  She served with grace and kindness to whosever would come.

Mom not only loved her daughters, but shared her love with all children.  She became a second mother to many of the neighborhood children. She was known as the "Neighborhood Mom".  She loved gardening, sewing, traveling, and ministering to her family and friends.

She met and married, Kennedy Corbett.  To this uniion two loving daughters were born, Olivia and Laura Corbett.

Mom's memory will be cherished by her daughters, Olivia and Laura Corbett; former husband, Kennedy Corbett; brothers, Arthur, III and Marcus Smaw; two sisters, Joyce Francis and Paula Smaw.  She also leaves to mourn her passing, a brother-in-law, Wilmer Francis; her nieces; Stephanie and Keena Francis, Shelly Johnson, Kechette and Desiree Smaw; her nephews: Deshaun Smaw and Derrick Smith; her great niece, Kayla Francis and great nephew, Malachi Johnson.
