Obituary

Born August 3, 1923 in Cape Charles, VA to her late parents Walker and Cora Beech, Lois Beech Jacobs, departed this life on October
25, 2020 in Virginia Beach, VA. She was one of twelve children. Ten of her siblings preceded her in death.

Lois married Wesley Floyd Jacobs, Jr, now deceased, in 1948 and together they raised six children. While her children were young, Lois was a stay-at-home mom. She was a devoted and caring mother. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was well known for her yeast rolls
and cakes, and not only baked them for her family but also baked them for sale to others in the community. She was also a caregiver for her mother and father in their declining years.

Mom was educated in the public schools of Northampton County, Virginia.  After her children were of a certain age she began working outside the home as a Teacher's Aide at Capeville Elementary School and then at Cheriton Elementary School. She enjoyed working with
children and she touched the lives of many youth until her retirement in 1993. Retirement afforded her the opportunity to do the things she enjoyed most, being with family, traveling and shopping.

Lois was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Cape Charles from a young age. She was very active in the church and served in many capacities, including the Deaconess Ministry, recorder of offerings for annual services and programs, and the Culinary and Hospitality
Ministries; she also maintained the Communion Set hardware. After the death of her beloved husband of 50 years, Floyd, Lois moved from Cape Charles to live in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach with her daughters. She continued to support her church even though she was
unable to attend services there.

Lois was an avid reader and enjoyed novels. Her favorite novelist was Mary Higgins Clark. Lois faithfully read her bible and devotionals every morning. She also enjoyed crocheting. For many years, she crocheted intricate doilies with which she adorned our home and which
she also sold. They were a work of art. She crocheted blankets and Afghans until arthritis made it too difficult. Even though she was bed bound in the last several months of her life, Lois became quite fond of playing word games and paint by number on her iPad. That kept her
mind active. The highlight of her week was joining in on the Beech Family Zoom call every week. Lois was very much a family person and she enjoyed catching up with everyone each week. Lois was not one to complain and did not ask for much, so when she did ask for something,
we tried our very best to make it happen.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Curtis Beech (Merle) of El Sobrante, California, Wesley Jacobs III (Abra) of Exmore, Virginia; four daughters, Sandra Baines (William) and Betty Spady (Percy), both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Thomasine Jacobs of Independence, Missouri,
and Crystal Eaton (Dexter) of Chesapeake, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren, Wanda Beech, Melissa Beech, Susan Beech-Willis, Jan Beech, Corey Baines (Cali), Michael Baines, Damon Ayers, Dee Bussey (Sedrick), Makeda Leary (Solomon), Candace Danahy (Michael),
Nichole Jacobs, Lucy Riley (Dana), Keisha Dickerson (Kevin), Wesley Jacobs IV (Tamara), and Jordan Jacobs; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great, great-grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Ayres of Burlington, New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Our mother always saw the good in people and treated everyone with kindness and respect. She will forever be remembered for the kind and gentle soul that she was.
