Elder Mary Gillis Bracey was born to the late Jessie and Ellen Dillard Gillis on June 27, 1919. Elder Mary Bracey went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her residence, Fairview, VA. She attended Northampton Public School; she was a long time employee of Kane and Miller and Perdue Farms.

Elder Bracey accepted Jesus Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Estella D. Smith, Mt Sinai Gospel Tabernacle and remained a faithful member under the current leadership of Bishop Helen O. Gillis.

Elder Bracey was saved in the year of 1944 and to ministry in the year of 1946. She served in different capacities in the church. She served on many auxiliaries and on different Boards of the church.

Elder Bracey received her Missionary credentials in 1951. In 1976, she received her Ministerial credentials. In 1980 she was Ordained Elder. In 1983 she was Ordained Presiding Elder and served as the Assistant Pastor at Emmanuel Holy Temple Church in Norfolk, VA

Elder Bracey worked faithfully through the years with her Pastor Bishop Helen O. Gillis. She believed in the Power of Prayer and had faith in the Lord, Jesus, the Christ. She preached and taught the word of God to many. She believed in winning souls for Christ. We will miss Elder Mary Bracey deeply on our hearts. She loved the Lord. She loved her grandchildren, her family, her Church family. She loved all of her nieces and nephews and friends. There are songs that she would sing-- "Jesus Paid My Debt at Calvary" - "The Blood That Never Lose It's Power" and many others.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a host of grand-children, numerous great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Bishop Helen Gillis of Fairview, VA; One Godson, Bernard Wynder, Fairview, VA; Two God-Daughters, Sister Phyllis Gillis of Fairview, VA and Sister Betty Reid of Cape Charles, VA; Devoted Nieces, Mary Anna Rogers, Co-Pastor Senora Ruffin and Elder Maggie Holley. A host of nieces and nephews.

We want to say thanks to the Care Taker Team; a special thanks to Sister Donetta Davis, Charlene Riley, Sister Eleanor Davis, Sister N. Hines and brother Kevin Clark, Jr.

Funeral services was held 1:00 pm Saturday , October 14,2017 at Mt. Sinai Gospel Tabernacle in Fairview, Virginia where she served as the eldest  Elder .There was a visitation Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 pm at the church.  Visitation was also held on Saturday from noon until funeral time. The interment was be in the Cape Charles Cemetery.
