Remembering her Life and Legacy

Mary Beckett Smaw was born in Cape Charles, Virginia to her loving parents, John A. Beckett and Mary Benn Beckett.

Stormy, as family and friends affectionately called her, married the love of her life, Thomas Smaw, Jr. They were blessed with one son, Thomas "Rayboy" Smaw III.  She had two brothers, John Beckett, Jr. and Walter Beckett; three sisters, Virginia Beckett Evans, Myrtle Beckett and Viola Montgomery, her only surviving sibling.

Stormy will be remembered for her many years of employment as a cafeteria worker for Northampton County Public Schools. She was known by her family as Sergeant York, because of her tough love.

Mary sadly loss one granddaughter in 2019, Corita Nicole Foeman. She is survived by her granddaughter, Lisa Foeman Boatwright and husband, William; five great grandchildren: Jasmine Foeman, Maya Johnson, Alexandra, Aaryn and Alivia Boatwright; sister, Viola Montgomery of Austin Texas, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
