On Thursday, August 3, 2023, after a lengthy illness Rev. Mary Magdalene Stanley Williams, closed her eyes and went to her eternal home. She was born April 4, 1936, to the late Anna Mae Stanley and the late Reverend John Williams Stanley in Chadbourn, North Carolina. She was the mother of 6 children, which 3 of them preceded her in death. Mary became an ordained minister under the late Rev. Charles Mapp on October 9, 2006. She served in many capacities in her church.
As a child, she always loved the Lord and attended Bible college. Her father was a minister, and her mom always sang on various choirs. Rev. Williams had 13 siblings of which 12 of them preceded her in death.
Rev. Williams was a proud Cherokee Indian and self-proclaimed, "Head Honcho" of the family. She was a kind-hearted person who loved everybody she met and considered none a stranger. She was a mother of many.
She was a nurse's aide at Shady Haven Nursing Home, in Burgaw, NC. She relocated years later to the Eastern Shore of Virginia and continued employment at Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital, in Nassawadox, VA.
Not only was she a dedicated member of African Baptist Church, she was also an honorary member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church in Burgaw, North Carolina, under the leadership of Rev. Geraldine Dereef by way of conference call when she was able.
Left to her memory-Children Donnetta Davis, Mary Wilson and Kenneth Williams(Angel), 7 grandchildren, Walter (Tonia), Tonya, Monique, Tyesha, Scheri, Dereka and Derek, 14 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews as well as special friends (Marva Stratton, Katie Ruffin, Dorothy Stratton and Michael Green), family members and nurses (Pat, Angie, Tracey and Linda).
