Mattie Augustus Fitchett Allen was born on 10/13/1915, the eldest of two daughters to the late Arthur Fitchett and Henrietta Cottrell, of Eastville, VA. Mattie was called home to rest on Wednesday December 28,2011. Mattie accepted Christ as her personal Savior early in her life. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Eastville, Va. On June 4,1940 Mattie married Edward Emmett. They shared a bond no one could take. The pair shared a love for entertaining and were often known to host friends and family in their home playing dominoes, card games, and sharing laughter. They also took in the infant daughter of her cousin (Chrissy) They both graciously took on the responsibility of caring for Chrissy. They loved Chrissy as any grandparents would throughout their lives. Mattie leaves to celebrate her life her surrogate daugher, Delores, her granddaughter Chrissy, and great-grandchildren Jaden and Justin a host of nieces,nephews, cousins and special friends (Helen Smith)
