May Francis Townsend , departed this life on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at her residence. May was born January 12, 1949 in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Charlie Williams and Francis Pool Williams.

May was educated in the public school system in Trenton, New Jersey and later received a certificate to serve as a certified nursing assistant.  May enjoyed traveling with her family and took pride in being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

May had a big heart and shared whatever she could with others.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Dwayne and Terrance Williams; three sisters, Fannie May Williams, Gladys Phelps and Lula Belle Kennedy; one brother, James Williams; her mother-in-law, Elsie Louise Townsend and a brother-in-law, Thomas Edward Townsend.

May leaves to cherish memories her husband, John Townsend, of twenty-one years; two children; Marvin (Sherrie) and Shinnette Williams; three brothers; Leroy Williams, Champ Williams and Abdul Shabazz; one sister, Mattie Dickerson; 15 grandchildren; Kevin Williams, QuayShawn West, Amir Williams, Mar'shawn Williams, Marvin Williams, Jr. Quamir Williams, Tarsha Williams, Jerome Hemingway, Amelia McFadden, Terrance Williams, Jr. Danesha Wiggins, Rasheeda , Rasquan and Marquan Johnson and Shinette Stephens; four sisters-in-law; Brenda Moses, Cape Charles, VA, Deneice Jones, Portsmouth, VA, Bellneice Townsend, Baltimore, MD, Claresia West, Capeville, VA; two brothers-in-law; Charles Townsend (Ernestine) Mount Vernon, NY, Albert Townsend, Baltimore, MD and other family members and caring friends.  We will miss her dearly.

A graveside services was held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cape Charles Community Cemetery, Cape Charles, VA.
