Michael J. Sullivan, 66, of Cape Charles, VA dies peacefully in his home on October 20, 2015.
He was born July 20, 1949, in Charles City, Iowa. The son of Miles J. Sullivan and Mavis E. Sullivan. He is the oldest of 4 siblings.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Theodora Sullivan, his two daughters; Elizabeth E. Gravely (Marcus) and Kathryn P. Cook (Lester), his son Miles J. Sullivan (Allyn), his seven grandchildren, his mother Mavis E. Sullivan, his two brothers, Stephen M. Sullivan (Cindy) and Daniel C. Sullivan (Jenny), and his sister Kathryn E. Parker (Don).
Michael served in the United States Air Force as an Interpreter and Arabic Linguist. After his discharge, he was employed by the Xerox Corporation for 34 years, retiring in 1999. Mike and his wife owned and operated Sullivan's Office Supply for 13 years in Cape Charles. He was also a volunteer ambulance driver for Station 19 with the Cape Charles Rescue Squad, a member of Cape Charles Town Council and 1st Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 56 located in Cheriton, VA.
A graveside service will be held at the Cape Charles Cemetery on Sunday, October 25th at 1 p.m. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the Cape Charles Volunteer Fire Dept.
A celebration of life will take place next summer with his children and grandchildren on the Greek Island of Evia in the country where Mike and Dora first met.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Charles Christian School, care of the Michael J. Sullivan Scholarship Fund.
