Mr. Patrick Henry Banister, son of the late Charlie and Edna Smith Banister, was born February 17, 1935 in Bridgetown, VA. Patrick departed this life peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Virginia.
At an early age, Patrick joined Shorter's Chapel AME Church in Bridgetown, Virginia where he remained faithful until the end of his journey. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to all who needed him for anything.
Patrick attended the Northampton County Public Schools. He was a school bus driver for 42 years. He also was employed by Shore Memorial Hospital for 25 years.
Patrick was predeceased in death by his parents, six brothers, Tom Pete Lyons, Richard Lyons, Charles Banister, Howard Banister, Raymond Banister and William Banister; five sisters, Mary Lyons, Georgia Townsend, Sarah Dickens, Golden Townsend and Roberta Banister.
"Pat" as he was affectionately called by family and friends leaves to cherish memories, Janie Banister, his beloved wife of 26 years of Treherneville, two sons, Devon Boyd (Sonya) of Charlotte, NC, Pastor Charles Kellam (Doris) of Cheriton, VA; one daughter, Kimberly Boyd of Birdsnest, VA; five grandchildren, Tariq Muhammad, Jasmine Gregory, Charles, Jr., Sharail and Eryn Nash; ten sisters-in-law, Susan Banister, Cheriton, VA, Mary Anna Banister and Elizabeth Banister of Birdsnest, VA, Pagetta Upshur, Pauline Boone, Shirley Shelborne and Sarah Shelborne, all of Brooklyn, NY, Rosie Perry, Passaic, NJ, Julia Green, Lithonia, GA and Bernice Dunn, Atlanta, GA; three brothers-in-law, Oddie Upshur, Brooklyn, NY, James Dickens, Birdsnest, VA and Billy Shelborne, Greenville, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
