A Reflection of Life

Monday, December 15, 2014 at 9:07 pm, God dispatched an angel to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to receive one of his children home. Pearline Elizabeth Wynder reached out her hand and went to be with the Lord.

Pearline a lifelong resident of Northampton County was born on July 25, 1955 to the late Isaac Wiggins and Virginia "Dollie" Elizabeth Wynder. She attended the Northampton County Public Schools and graduated in 1975 from Northampton High School. She continued her education at Norfolk Business Academy receiving her Associate Degree in Business Management. She returned home and spent most of her life serving people by working as an Office and Apartment Manager with Seabreeze Apartments in Cape Charles for eight years and Heritage Acres Apartments for 22 years. She was extremely knowledgeable of the Housing and Urban Development Policies and was instrumental in providing housing to many people in Northampton County. She worked out many situations to allow young as well as senior citizens find affordable housing. That was her ministry, serving her community.

In her teens with the loving support and encouragement of her Grandma Beulah Elizabeth, she joined African Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Charles F. Mapp and was a faithful member until the end. She participated in all annual activities serving as a Captain of various fundraising activities. She enjoyed hearing Choir II on the 1st Sunday and the youth choir on the 4th Sunday. If she wasn't at African she was visiting her second church family, First Baptist Capeville where she got her praise on. She loved First Baptist Capeville and she loved to hear Reverend Jones preach and sing.

Pearl was predeceased by a brother Calvin and a sister, Deborah Wynder.

We will always cherish the big heart, the big smile and the legacy she has left behind with her brothers: Jesse (Frances), Donald (Lisa) Wynder, Isaac and Prentice Wiggins; her sister: Brenda Lee Wynder, Bernice, Charlene and Patricia Wiggins; 9 nephews: Calvin, Jr., Raymond, Melvin, Jesse, Jr., Michael, André, Donald, Jr. Keyon & Polite; 13 nieces: Tanya, LaJune, Tyneshia, Tye, Tonya, Denise, Demetra, Ronica, Lynea, Malaysia, Kennedy, Symphony and Sophia Elizabeth; her Aunt Shirley and Uncle Albert Christian, Aunt Alice Ames and Aunt Maggie Moses, Aunt Alice Watson, uncles: Frizzle, Lorenzo & James Thomas; a dear cousin, Yvonne Holden; four dear friends, Cordelia Staten, Bessie Holloway Paulette Battle & Jeffery Braxton; her cousins whom she thought of as siblings, Joyce (Johnnie), Shirleen, Joe (Tracye), Maury & Chris, and a special cousin, confidant, friend & sister, Mary Mitchell; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, the Heritage Acres Community and her African Baptist Church family.
