IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Reginald Mckinley
Widgeon, Sr.
January 3, 1947 – July 9, 2023
Reginald "Reggie" M Widgeon, Sr was born to Theodore and the late Mayfield Weeks Widgeon on January 3, 1947 in Eastville, Virginia. He peacefully entered eternal rest on July 9, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Reggie accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at a young age at Union Baptist Church in Eastville, Virginia. In his adult life, he joined From the Heart Church Ministries where he served in the Special Services Ministry for over 20 years. He had a huge heart and was a man of great faith.
Reggie was educated in the Northampton County Public School System and graduated from Northampton County High School , Machipongo, Virginia. He continued his education at Norfolk State College (now University), where he received an associated degree in electronics. Also, he attended the University of Maryland and Tuck Business School at Dartmouth in Minority Business Entrepreneurship. He was also a product, as a civilian, of the U.S. Navy Electronics Technology Apprenticeship Program.
Reggie was joined in holy matrimony to Eloise P Gilchrist in October 1981. As an inseparable couple, they enjoyed fine dining, traveling and dreaming of life's possibilities. He traveled to 48 of the 50 states and various destinations outside the United States. On several occasions, his parents traveled on vacations with him and his family.
Reggie was employed with Memorex Corporation as the Director of Federal Sales. After leaving Memorex, he started his own business, RMW Enterprises, an information technology and networking solutions company. He was an accomplished business executive with over 45 years of experience in marketing and developing home-based businesses. He was proficient in skilled, critical, innovative and collaborative thinking for business development. Reggie found his passion for teaching people about healthy living through his work with Youngevity as an independent agent.
Reggie and Eloise relocated to Cape Charles, Virginia and had a slower pace of life after residing in Maryland for many years. Part of the decision to relocated was to be available for his aging parents. He became an integral part of the revitalization of Cape Charles. He was president-elect of the Rotary Club of Cape Charles. Also, he was active in several community projects, including the Cape Charles Main Street Project, the Rosenwald School Project, and the Invisible History of African Americans in Cape Charles Project.
Reggie loved his family as well as his extended family. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 41 years, Eloise P. Widgeon; son, Reginald M Widgeon, Jr (Margie)d daughter, Carlette W Flowers (Tyrone); grandchildren: Arielle Borisade (Yemi), Reginald M Widgeon, III, Jamal Bullock (Akeira), Ryan Widgeon, Arae Widgeon, Tyrone Flowers, Tyra Flowers, Tykia Flowers and Corey Flowers; great-grandchildren: Mason Borisade, Maxwell Borisade, Orey Flowers, and Kayden Graham; Father, Theodore Widgeon; sister, Evette Richardson (Fletcher); brothers: James Widgeon (Betty), Rudolph Widgeon, and Jeffrey Widgeon (Joyce): sister-in-law, Rosemary Culver (Alexander); brother-in-law, Gregory Gilchrist; aunts: Irma Harris, Virginia Weeks, Dorothy Sample (Oliver), and Eula Mae Weeks; uncle, Thomas Weeks, Jr (Evelyn); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted relatives and friends.
