On Sunday, March 18, 2007, Richard Lee Upshur exchanged his earthly labor for his heavenly reward. He was one of ten children born to the late John Ed and Cora Harmon Upshur.

Richard attended the public school system of Northampton County. He enjoyed working the soil of the land as a dedicated farmer. He retired from farming in 1988 and devoted more time enjoying family and friends.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Morris Upshur, three brothers, John, Henry and Charles Upshur and one sister, Lucinda Upshur.

He enjoyed attending the family church, Bethel Baptist Church in Franktown whenever it was possible. He often mentioned the goodness of the Lord and his love for God and his family.

Richard leaves to love and remember him, three sons, Kenny Hill of New York, Diego Upshur (Charlene) of Eastville, VA and Richard Upshur of Machipongo, VA; one daughter, Marcella Morris of Machipongo, VA; one brother, Lilton Upshur of Exmore, VA; four sisters: Ellen Church of Eastville, VA, Florence Upshur of Machipongo, VA, Mary Williams of Eastville, VA, and Louise Upshur of Treherneville, VA; a sister-in-law, Ruth Upshur of Newport News, VA; nine grandchildren, ten great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
