SABOR TOLLIVER daughter of the late Patience Smith and George Andrew Smith entered the realm of eternal bliss before the break of dawn on Thursday, June 11, 2009.
"Nookie" as she was so affectionately known grew up in Northampton County and attended its public schools. Knowing the need for Christ as a result of being nurtured in a Christian home, Nookie confessed Christ as Lord of her life and joined First Baptist Church of Capeville, where she remained a dedicated, faithful and loyal member, always doing whatever she could for her pastors and for the ongoing work of ministry.
Sabor was married to the late Milton Jones, Sr. and their union was blessed with 16 children, 5 of whom preceded her in eternal rest.
Nookie loved her church and could often be found singing in the choir. Her love for singing led her to organize her own group consisting of her children and grandchildren called "All My Children" and they followed the Master's mandate to "go ye therefore" compelling men, women, boys and girls to come to Christ.
Nookie's other greatest love was the joy she got from her children and grandchildren especially when she would throw her big cook-out. She wanted everyone to be at what we would not call Big Mama's house.
Sabor was a woman of great faith and when faced with the adversity of sickness, she did not whimper, murmur or complain but declared that God's got me. She understood God's strength was made perfect in weakness.
Sabor leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy: five sons, Milton Jones, Jr. (Persis), Exmore, VA, Clarence Jones (Marjarine) Terton, NJ, Garnell Jones, Cedar Grove, VA, Samson Jones (Paula Faye), Cape Charles, VA, Tony Jones (Karen), Hampton, VA and Marvin Jones (Phyllis) Cedar Grove, VA, three stepchildren, Annette Rogers, Kevin Tolliver and Karen Tolliver; twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Brown (John William); five brothers; three aunts, five uncles; five sisters, all of whom preceded her in death; one brother-in-law; one god daughter, Effie Spady, a special niece, Annie B. Smith; special friend, Mrs. Minnie Seaton; one adopted son, Sonny Rowley; a loving and devoted friend, Joshua White and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
