Tasley Leonard Townsend was born in Capeville, VA on March 31, 1925 to Nervilla and Walter Townsend Sr. While being cared for at the Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA, God Almighty called Tasley home to eternal rest on Friday, June 29, 2012.
Tasley, known as "Taz" attended the Northampton County Public Schools. Using life skills and experiences, he learned to work well with his hands and asked questions that resulted in developing great wisdom and success. He worked as a Construction Worker with the local union in New Jersey for many years and provided independent home improvement carpentry services.
In celebrating his life, we the family would like to remember his siblings who preceded him in death; three sisters Mary Townsend, Elsie Moody, and Thelma Ames; three brothers Cornelius Townsend(Neal), Earnest Townsend Sr., and Walter Townsend Jr.(Buddy).
For many years Tasley was married to Catherine Ann Townsend. From this union, they were blessed with four children Deborah and Carolyn who are deceased and Michael and Bobby. He also had another son James Spady who was from a previous relationship.
Along with a wife and three sons, he is survived by two siblings; Mary Elizabeth Graves(Liz) and Cecil Townsend, two brother-in-laws, Jerry Graves and Gagar Ames, a sister-in-law, Ruth Townsend, one grand-daughter, Carolyn Anderson, two grand-sons, Howard Anderson and Zachary Townsend, a host of nieces and nephews, three devoted friends, John Nottingham, James Henry Smith, and Henry Cypress, along with many other relatives and friends.
