Thomas Henry Smaw, Jr. passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Nassawadox, Virginia. He was born in Cape Charles, Virginia to the late Thomas Henry and Gladys Mitchell Smaw.

"Tom", as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. He was employed by the Wendell Distributing Company for 56 years as a truck driver. He learned good work ethics in his youth and maintained and exemplified conscientiousness, dedication, and punctuality. He had a spirit of cooperativeness with family and friends and possessed a quiet and likable personality.

On June 26, 1950 Thomas was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mary Beckett.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary (Stormy); four brothers, Clifton (Aretha) and Tyrone both of Newport News, VA, Larry (Mary) of District Heights, MD and Stanley (Willie Mae) of Salisbury, MD; three sisters, Mary Perry, Newport News, VA, Corine (George) Bundick, East Stroudsburg, PA and Mary Darden, New Britian, CT; one aunt, Emily Mitchell, Portsmouth, VA; two grandchildren, Lisa and Coritta; five great grand children, Maya, Jasmine, Alexandra, Aayrn, and Olivia, three brothers-in-law, George Bundick, John Beckett, Jr., and Walter Beckett; four sisters-in-law, Aretha Smaw, Willie Mae Smaw, Myrtle Beckett, and Viola Montgromery; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and the entire family and staff of the Wendell Distributing Company. He was also pre-deceased by a son, Thomas Ray, a brother, Horace and two sisters, Deborah and Shirley.
