Vera Ternita Sample was born February 23, 1969 in Baltimore City Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to Terry Sample and David Satchell, Jr. She was raised in her early years by her grandmother, Oneida Sample.

Vera attended the public schools of Accomac County and graduated from Nandua High School.

She met her future husband at K-Mart in Exmore, VA. She was married to Rodney Dixon until his death in 2010.

Vera was a licensed Evangelist and was a faithful member of Living Word Church of Deliverance in Parksley, VA. She was a joy to be around and her beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to morn her passing 1 daughter, Aundrea Ternita Sample, mother and father, Terry Sample and David Satchell; mother and father-in-law, Pastor Ornia and Starlene Dixon; 3 sisters, Michelle Johnson, Cassandra Sample and Felicia (Fernandas) Moore, 5 brothers, Jerrod Sample, Montero Sample, Tony (Sheri) Johnson, David Bailey and Ryan (Catrina) Satchell; maternal uncles and aunts, Obediah (Marion), Sample, Dory (Jenette) Sample and Dorice (Edmonia) Sample; paternal uncles, Rufus Satchell and Herman (Barbara) Satchell; Grandmother-in-law, Margie Dixon, 1 Godson, Keista Anderson, II, 1 Godsister, Gwen Morgan; 4 sisters-in-law, Co-Pastor Shernita ( Stephen) Boyd, Marlene and Marlette Dixon, Sherell (Marcus) McBride; 1 brother-in-law, Clemente Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a cousin, Eric Sample whom she considered a brother. Rest in peace Vera.
